      <image:caption>I began my yoga practice by completing a 30 day Bikram yoga challenge with a friend of mine. We spontaneously signed up for the challenge as part of a New Year's resolution. I didn't have many expectations when I began my yoga practice. I didn't play sports in school, I was never an athlete, and I wasn't even very flexible. In the beginning of my Bikram challenge, I looked around the room in awe as I saw other yogis effortlessly perform poses that I thought seemed impossible. I never let this get me down. In fact, as I was practicing, I would simply tell myself, "That's not for me. I'm not a yogi. I'm not a dancer. I'm not an athlete. I can't do that." I thought that I was being practical, but I didn't realize that I was putting limitations on myself. I was inhibiting my own growth by telling myself these poses were impossible. Outside of the yoga room, I had also been inhibiting my personal growth, scared to take action in my own life. Over time, the yoga began to work on me. At the end of the 30 days, I made remarkable progress and changes that I never even anticipated. I became so much more comfortable and in-tune with my body. I started wearing less clothing in the hot room, and I was no longer ashamed of what I saw in the mirror. I learned, through the strength and power of my own body, that I was limitless... my life was limitless... and anything and everything was possible and open for me to try. I continued to grow my yoga practice with constant curiosity, exploring my body and getting to know myself even better. In 2013, I found my way to Sacred Brooklyn, where I eventually completed my 200 hour Vinyasa yoga teacher training. I now regularly practice yoga from a variety of disciplines, including heated Vinyasa, Baptiste, and Jivamukti. Yoga, for me, has been a beautiful process of self liberation. I was keeping my soul locked in a cage, and with each practice, I feel myself opening up like a flower petal blooming. As a teacher, my goal is to help others find liberation and love for themselves. My classes contain a mix of sensual poses and powerful flows, set to a soundtrack that's part R&amp;B, part Indie. I encourage students both to mindfully embrace challenge and to luxuriate in the sensations of their own bodies. When we open our hearts to the world, the love flows back.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>April considers herself a compassionate disrupter of inequity and restorative reconnector to people’s strengths. Prior to being a mindfulness and educational consultant, April was teacher at a resilient middle school in the South Bronx. April was part of the inaugural cohort at the Spirituality Mind Body Institute at Columbia University where she received her Master’s Degree in Spirituality and Mindfulness in 2016, MS education at Fordham University, and BS International Relations, Community Development and Educational Studies with a focus on Anti-Racist education from Mount Holyoke College. She then created Ahimsa MY LLC, focusing on bringing mindfulness and yoga to schools and educational organizations as a means to cultivate present teachers and self-empowered students. April hopes that the practices of mindfulness can reconnect teachers and young people back to their inner resources of breath and body to navigate external uncertainties. April has partnered with schools across the country as well as numerous service organizations. She is a teacher with the Lineage Project, an organization that teaches trauma-informed mindfulness to incarcerated adjacent young people and staff who support them. She also was a program facilitator with Mindful Schools, an international mindfulness organization supporting in integrating mindfulness into school communities. April has been working with restorative justice, trauma informed practices, diversity and equity, and mindfulness for over ten years. April’s greatest joy is being a foster mother.</image:caption>

She has done workshops and intensives with Patricia Walden, Lois Steinberg, Gabriella Giubillaro, Stephanie Quirk and many others. She regularly spends time in Pune, India, to study with the Iyengar familyand to stay in touch with ‘the source’.  A classically trained pianist and actress, Mimi felt immediately drawn to the Iyengar system, since this style of yoga explains so precisely HOW to do the poses. How do you get your body so aligned that your nervous system has a chance to settle, even while you’re doing something challenging or unusual? Liz, a yoga alliance certified experienced registered yoga teacher at the 200 and 500 hour levels, as well as a YACEP certified yoga educator has been teaching since 2011. She teaches primarily in a Chromatic yoga style, which focuses on step-by-step physical techniques and alignment principles; leveraging anatomy knowledge to help students unleash their greatest potential. Beyond movement, her classes integrate breathwork, mindfulness, and philosophy, to cultivate a more holistic yoga practice. In her classes, Anh aims to make this journey of self-discovery inclusive and accessible for all levels. Sometimes, she guides students through dynamic sequences to build strength and focus; other times, she slows down to help them explore the fundamental actions within each pose. Each class is shaped by the needs of the students and meets students where they are at with presence, curiosity, and care.  Prior to teaching yoga, Anh spent nearly a decade as a credentialed actuary and consultant. During that time, yoga became a grounding force in her life that brings clarity, balance and a profound sense of healing.
