Courtney Acomb graduated from The College at Brockport in 2007 where she studied modern dance and received a B.F.A in dance and performance. Through her work with master choreographer and dance educator, Bill Evans,… More…
… she has been greatly influenced by Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals and the necessity to integrate the principles of exertion and recuperation. Making time and space for rest is integral for the body to return to wellness. This understanding led her to pursue her massage therapy license from Finger Lakes School of Massage in 2008. She began her practice working for a holistic chiropractor where she was immersed in medical massage and chronic pain management. It was here that she discovered her knack and passion for treating specific ailments. She has since grown to combine medical massage with her knowledge of stress reduction. It is her hope to provide the space for each client to experience a sense of deep relaxation while finding relief from physical pain.

Catherine Calderon
I think of the healing work that I offer in one-on-one settings as a kind of jump start of your own innate healing abilities. In our work together, we will churn up material, shake up blockages, and spark some hopefully rather big energy shifts to help move you into the next phase of your journey.More…
The sessions are very eclectic (drawing on many traditions out of my tool bag, and might include energy or card readings, therapeutic yoga, guided meditations and shamanic journeying, spiritual/energetic cleansings of various sorts, and chakra balancing, among other things). The time frame is open-ended — I ask people to hold at least a three hour slot. On average they last about two and a half hours, but can go be a bit shorter or as long as three hours or even more. It just depends on what comes up once we get started.
A week or so before the session we will have a preparatory phone session (20-40 minutes long generally), where I gather information to help plan what would be most appropriate for you, and I give you some work to do to prepare for our time together. Generally this can consist of some journalling exercises, some guided meditations to work with, certain types of yoga or other energetic or spiritual practices to do to help open up your energy channels, etc. It all depends on what’s going on for you and what you’re hoping to focus on and receive from the session. Then we will do a follow-up phone session a week or so afterward, to see what’s come up for you and to give you some other suggestions of how to work with it all.
This type of work is very good for dealing with physical, emotional and spiritual “stuckness” and help identify what’s standing in the way of your ability to move fully into your authenticity.
The fee for the whole experience (pre & post phone sessions & the face-to-face session) is a flat rate of $200, regardless of how long we go.
After doing at least one or two of the individual healing sessions, you may decide to participate in a small group healing ceremony, which can be quite powerful and transformative. For more information about either the individual or group sessions, you can email me at shambhalayoganyc@aol.com.
